PROSTATE HEALTH USE IT OR LOSE IT
May 28th, 2008Things you should do live a healthier more fulfilled life this year.
1 Have your prostate checked. If you 50 or older this should be done annually. If you are a black male you should start at age 45. Make an appointment with your doctor. Make sure that you have a P.S.A. blood test and a digital rectal examination. Yes, you definitely need both. I know having a finger where it doesn`t belong isn`t exciting but it is absolutely necessary. There are more new cases of prostate cancer than any other kind. Remember prostate cancer is the #1cancer!
2 Check your hormone levels. Most mid 50 yr old men have more Estrogen in their bodies than their wives! This Estrogen dominence really messes up things in the libido and erection area. Loss of libido and poor erection quality may be caused by male Estrogen dominence. This can be checked by your physician. You must be specific when requesting hormone testing. Many physicians don`t understand the important role proper levels of hormones play. Have you ever had your Testosterone levels checked? If you are over 45 you should. It`s good to have a baseline established as well as to check for low levels. You cannot have a good libido and proper erection quality with low T levels. By the way did you know that you have more Testosterone receptors in your heart than anywhere else in your body? Yes, good heart health depends on the proper levels of Testosterone. Want to stay young? Keep your T levels up. Any proper anti-aging protocol includes hormone replacement. When you find a doctor who understands the importance of proper hormone levels make an appointment and have them checked. It is VERY important to be specific when requesting hormone testing. You MUST ask for the total Testosterone and the free Testosterone to be tested. Why? Only about 3% of the total Testosterone is bio available to work in your body. This is the free Testosterone. Also ask for a test of your Estrogen. Ask for the test for Estradiol. DO NOT let your doctor try and talk you out of any of thest tests. Also the labs comparison for levels by age is way out of date. My T level was 290. On the low end of the scale but considered normal. It wasn`t. I was like a non functioning 80 yr old man. After I did considerable research and went to an anti-aging physician I discovered what the levels should be. I belong to the Life Extension Foundation and use their optimal reference ranges. When my levels were restored to where they should be, WOW! What a difference. Because levels diminish so gradually it`s easy to rationalize this as normal aging. No way. GET TESTED.
3 Make a date to make love.
If you and your mate schedule a specific time for love making it`s more apt to happen. In our busy world things that are really important sometimes get pushed aside. Schedule your intimate time earlier in the evening if you can. With our busy and stressful lives, by the time we normally go to bed we are exhausted. Being too tired does nothing for romance.
Use it or lose it.
Men need a minimum of 3 ejaculations per week just for good prostate health. There have been studies that show the more ejaculations men have the longer they live. (Probably much happier too.) Learn how to do Kegels. What are these? A very good exercise for your prostate and your sex life. You can do these anywhere,any time. I usually do about 500 in the shower.This exercise works the pubococcygeal muscle PC for short. Your PC muscle needs a daily workout to keep your prostate in good shape. and help maximize sexual performance. As your PC muscle is exercised more blood flows to your penis and supporting organs.When the muscle grows stronger your prostate gland is strengthened and erections come easier. To find this muscle, work up a flow of urine and during the flow squeeze and stop the flow. Yes this is the muscle that you use to control the flow of urine. You can fast squeeze and slow squeeze. Start your PC workout doing 20 fast and 20 slow squeezes several times a day. Slowly work up to several hundred. It doesn`t take that long.
Supplements
I take 50 mg of zinc twice a day, a prostate formula supplement twice a day and a prosexual supplement twice a day. Do your own research or contact me for some advice. I take many more supplements but these are specifically for the prostate. I also use a prescription compounded bio-available Testosterone replacement.
